NAMM is committed to advancing the health, nutrition, and well-being of vulnerable communities, with a special focus on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health. Through a holistic and community-centered approach, the organization strives to improve health outcomes by ensuring access to quality healthcare services, promoting positive health-seeking behaviors, strengthening community institutions, and enhancing the capacities of frontline service providers.
The Health and Nutrition Programme integrates direct service delivery, awareness generation, community mobilization, capacity building, and convergence with government systems to create sustainable and long-term impact. By empowering communities with knowledge and facilitating access to essential services, NAMM contributes to the reduction of health disparities among marginalized and tribal populations.
Mobile Health Services: Conducting regular medical outreach camps in remote and underserved tribal villages through Mobile Medical Units staffed by qualified doctors and healthcare professionals, ensuring access to essential healthcare services at the doorstep of vulnerable populations.
Health and Nutrition Awareness Campaigns: Organizing large-scale awareness initiatives and observance campaigns such as National Nutrition Week, World Breastfeeding Week, Global Handwashing Day, and other public health events to promote healthy practices and behavioral change.
Strengthening Community Health Systems: Building the capacities of frontline functionaries including Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), and Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs) to improve the quality and effectiveness of community-based health services.
Management of Child Malnutrition: Identifying, monitoring, and facilitating timely care and rehabilitation support for children suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and other forms of undernutrition through community-based interventions and referral mechanisms.
Maternal and Child Health Support: Undertaking regular home visits and personalized counselling for pregnant and lactating mothers, with special attention to high-risk pregnancies, to promote safe motherhood, institutional delivery, exclusive breastfeeding, and appropriate infant and young child feeding practices.
Promotion of Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture: Encouraging the establishment of household and institutional nutrition gardens to enhance access to diverse, nutritious, and locally available food, thereby improving dietary diversity and household nutrition security.
Facilitating Access to Social Protection Schemes: Supporting eligible households in accessing food security programmes, nutrition services, health insurance, and other government welfare schemes to strengthen their resilience and overall well-being.
Through these strategic interventions, NAMM continues to work towards building healthier, nutritionally secure, and empowered communities, particularly among tribal and marginalized populations.
