Who We Are

National Association of Man for Mankind (NAMM) is a registered voluntary organization that traces its roots to a youth-led social initiative launched in 1993. Inspired by the Government of India’s National Literacy Mission, introduced in 1988 with the ambitious goal of empowering millions through literacy, a group of committed young volunteers in Dhenkanal district of Odisha came together to promote education and social transformation within their communities.

Driven by a shared vision of creating an informed and empowered society, these young changemakers dedicated themselves to educating non-literate individuals in their localities. Their passion, commitment, and grassroots efforts soon inspired many other educated youths to join the movement, expanding its reach and impact across the region.

As the initiative gained momentum and recognition, it evolved into a structured community-based organization dedicated to addressing broader developmental challenges. To strengthen its institutional foundation and enhance its capacity for social action, the organization was formally registered in 1994 as the National Association of Man for Mankind (NAMM).

Since then, We have continued its journey as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable development, working with marginalized communities to promote education, health, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, and social justice.
